Warranty Footnotes

1. Bravat GmbH is unable to provide us with documentation showing the existence of a North American warranty for Enzo Rodi faucets.

The federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. §2301) requires all consumer products warranties to be in writing.

This Company In Brief

Enzo Rodi is a brand of Chinese-made faucets sold by Bravat (China) GmbH along with other sanitary wares including sinks, shower components, tubs, and accessories, all made in China.

Enzo Rodi faucets are Bravat's mid-priced and economy faucets. The company also sells Bravat brand faucets, its more upscale line of premium faucets.

Enzo Rodi is a brand name introduced by Roman Dietsche GmbH, a German company founded in 1873 to manufacture rooms and brushes. By the 1960s, faced with growing competition from cheaper Asian imports, it turned to the manufacture of bathroom fittings and accessories, selling under the Bravat, Roman Dietsch, and Enzo Rodi brands.

The change in focus did not save the company. It was ordered into bankruptcy in 2008, Note 1 and was purchased out of bankruptcy in the same year by IBP Global Trading, Ltd., a U.K. holding company.

Over the next few years, design and production of Roman Detsche sanitary products were moved to China and taken over by IBP subsidiary Bravat Plumbing Industrial Co., Ltd.

IBP closed the last of Dietsche's German factories in 2015. Its original headquarters has been shuttered and administration merged into IBP offices in Linden, Germany.

The eviscerated Roman Dietsche GmbH still owns the Bravat® and Enzo Rodi® brands, both of which are registered in the U.S. the U.K., the E.U., and China as trademarks. Dietsche, however, is no longer involved in the production or distribution of Enzo Rodi products. It is a holding company. It does not actually do anything.

Its value to IBP however is its pedigree. It allows the IBP to claim a heritage going back to 1873, never mentioning that the brands started out as brooms and brushes and that Dietsch as a company is virtually defunct.

Bravat (China) GmbH handles the distribution of faucets and sanitary wares for IBP. Bravat GmbH is chartered in Germany but operates out of Guangzhou, China sharing its address with Bravat Plumbing Industrial Co., Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer. It is the company that manufactures most of the Bravat-branded faucets sold in the U.S. and Canada.

Bravat Plumbing Industrial does not, however, manufacture Enzo Rodi fuacets. These are made by Seagull Kitchen and Bath Products Co., Ltd. Bravat buys them from Seagull's . They are not custom or original designs. An example of a Seagull faucet sold under the Bravat nameplate is the Twist faucet, shown below.

Like most Chinese designs, Seagull faucets are stylish but not original to Seagull.

Most faucets manufactured by Chinese companies tend to be middle-of-the-road and to follow the pack rather than lead it. The goal of Asian faucet manufacturers is not to win prestigious awards for avant-gard design. It is to sell as many faucets as possible, which means keeping their designs well within the mainstream to appeal to as many potential buyers as possible.

Designs are often adopted from Europe and North America. A style that sells well in these major markets will often be imitated by Asian factories. The lag time is usually 3 to 5 years, so by the time a design appears in a Chinese faucet it is no longer new. Enzo Rodi faucets manufactured by Seagull Kitchen and Bath fall into this category. They are pleasant enough designs but dated.

There is overlap between faucets in the Bravat and Enzo Rodi collections, and the same faucets are sold under other brands.

The three faucets shown below are manufactured by Seagull Kitchen and Bath Products Co., Ltd. They are exactly the same faucet. It is sold by both Bravat and Enzo Rodi, but also by Markimex under its proprietary brand.

Seagull also supplies faucets to

Enzo Rodi has no infrastructure in North America. It sells only through internet retail sales sites that host third-party sellers such as Amazon.

These massive e-tailers handle inventory, order-taking, payment processing, fulfillment, and returns. What these sites do not handle, however, is the long-term post-sale support needed to take care of warranty claims.

The lack of infrastructure means that there is no Enzo Rodi customer service in the U.S. or Canada.

Bravat (China) GmbH tries to handle post sale support from its base in China, but the result has not been a great success.

It at one time had a toll-free customer service telephone number for its higher-end Bravat faucets. It no longer has the number.

It provides email addresses through which Bravat faucet customers may contact the company. There is no contact email address for Enzo Rodi customers, however.

As far as we can determine, Enzo Rodi faucets are not guaranteed.

We have not been able to find an Enzo Rodi warranty, not even with the paperwork that came in the boxes with our Enzo Rodi test faucets. We have requested a copy of the U.S. and Canada warranty from Bravat (China) GmbH, but Bravat has treated these requests the same as all of our service requests: no response of any kind.

Faucets imported from Asia comparable to Enzo Rodi include:

There is no reason to buy an Enzo Rodi faucet. One of the other importers listed above that sell Asian-made faucets is almost certainly a better choice. All sell have at least some sort of warranty on their faucet – many for the lifetime of the faucet – and many have customer service infrastructure in North America to support their products. There are no replacement parts in North America.

If you do buy an Enzo Rodi faucet, eep in mind that if it breaks, you are completely on your own. There is no written warranty and if a warranty did exist, there is no customer support for the warranty.

We are continuing to research the company. If you have experience with Bravat or Enzo Rodi faucets, good, bad, or indifferent, we would like to hear about it, so please contact us or post a comment below.
